I went to high school with a guy by the name of Rob Paine.
Rob was one year ahead of me, so I did not know him that well, really. I knew he cycled competitively
( I think ), and all the chicks were in love with him. He seemed like a pretty nice chap, had a great deal of friends and also was very preppy ( well, it was the eighties ). That’s about all I knew about Rob. After graduation, I heard nothing about him…
Over ten years later, I came back to the Philadelphia area along with my burning passion for reggae music. I met several people who introduced me to some of their friends in the reggae scene, but they wanted me to meet a guy that had the same passion for reggae that I did. They said his name was Rob Paine.
I wasn’t sure if it was the same Rob Paine, so I needed to know. Shortly after a discussion, they brought a gentleman to me who had a very full beard and dreadlocks that looked like they had been growing for – well, the past ten years. But underneath all of that I saw that it was indeed the Rob Paine I knew.
Apparently, Rob fell in love with reggae music much like I had, and was ( and is ) actively involved in the reggae community. He is a serious reggae DJ and really can hang with the best of the best. This guy knows his stuff and has a genuine love for rasta music.
I invite you to take a look at the Solomonic Sound System and the grooves of Rob Paine. He is a genuine person with a beautiful vision for music. His services and music can also be obtained at Worship Records in Philadelphia. Take a look at their website, there is a lot of great vibes going on.
Oh, that’s Rob all the way to the left
