When I was a youngster, I ran around with a bunch to kids who loved to skate.

I wasn’t very good at tricks like some of the freestylers, but I had fun skating around town and raising cain with the boys.

I even remember my boards. I had a Steve Caballero and a Vision Aggressor, which was affectionately called the Blondie Bombshell.

One board a lot of my friends had was the Steve Steadham. I remember the Steadham board was very cool, plus the skater was one of the first black guys who skated pro.

Now fast-forward about 11 years…. it’s 1993…San Diego California…

I was playing with a local reggae act and heard that a band called Citizen X was playing. When I went to the show, a buddy of mine told me that the drummer and singer for the band was none other than Steve Steadham himself!  How Cool!

The band sounded great, and they had a really nice vibe going.  I eventually was able to befriend Steve and ultimately become the drummer for Citizen X.

If you are ever in San Diego, look up Steve and Citizen X.  He is still alive, well and playing music!
