About Rasta Ron
A child of the “Golden State”, I was born Ronald Givens Jr. in the Santa Monica Hospital, located in Los Angeles, CA, on April 2nd, 1973. My parents Ronald Givens Sr. and Rachelle Givens moved there to be a part of the more liberal and open-minded Californian culture, which was a contrast to the prevalent racial oppression they had felt in their native PA.
Several years later, in an effort to reunite the family, my family left California to return to our roots in Pennsylvania.
I spent my childhood in Lower Bucks county PA. My family settled in Yardley.
It was in Yardley that I found drums as a youngster and honed my skills playing rock, jazz, funk and R & B.
I was also a member of the Award Winning Pennsbury Concert Jazz Band.
Here is a list of some of the bans I have had the privilege of playing with:
- Ishmael and the Peacemakers
- Creed ( reggae band )
- Jah Soldiers
- Tippa Irie
- Trevor James and the Dreadcats
- Peter Huningale
- Sister Nancy
- Pincers
- Big Mountain
- Adrian and the Sunburns
- Ras Shiloh
- Crucial
- Rising Lion
- Victor Essiet and the Mandators
- Citizen X
- Quino and Friends
This is just the beginning of our journey together. Lets stay in touch.
We have a lot of music to make together!
